The Altgeld Family Resource Center is a Chicago Public Library, childcare center, and community meeting space within Altgeld Gardens, one of the first public housing developments in the U.S. The 40,000 SF building is wrapped in a continuous ribbon of brick that curves around the entire perimeter to allow users to approach from all sides. The building’s interior is punctuated with courtyards that bring natural light and ventilation to the spaces inside.
