McKinley Park Community Orchard is a public space for the community to learn how to tend and care for fruit and nut trees with a focus on native species. The space also hosts an arts and crafts program that uses perennial plants that are sustainability harvested for artisanal purposes. This space aims to build relationships with residents of the community and other beings that need guidance in plant stewardship. The McKinley Park Community Orchard encourages reciprocity with plants and provides educational services/learning and teaching with community members.
This community garden provides the McKinley park community the knowledge, skills, awareness, and humility to counter food insecurity through sovereignty.
