Located in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Plant Chicago is a non-profit organization whose mission is to cultivate local circular economies. Formed to support its parent project The Plant back in 2011, Plant Chicago built on their history of adaptive and creative reuse to be housed within the Chicago Firehouse for truck company #33 at the corner of 45th and Marshfield. Plant Chicago hosts workshops on how to participate in a circular economy, winter farmers markets, food pickups in partnership with Urban Canopy, and an indoor Victory Garden for city residents to learn to grow their own food all year round.
Plant Chicago is housed in a former firehouse in the Back of the Yards and provides a community center for circular economy programming.
