Located in Chicago's West Side, Austin neighborhood, the South Austin Neighborhood Association (SANA) transformed a vacant lot to a community garden space. SANA redeveloped this space to go along with the Quality of Life Plan for a positive safe space to be created for the community in honor of Veterans. This placemaking intervention exists in the middle of a commercial area with public transportation and serves to promote peace and tranquility for the community and is frequently used to host events (ex. Memorial Day, Summer Bingo, Christmas Light Displays, etc).

This community garden in South Austin promotes peace, tranquility, and preserves the natural environment.
